I admit it, I liked Picasa 1. Picasa 2 has pretty much blown me away though! The newly released Picasa 2 has improved a lot, and now appears even better than before. Importing pictures, printing, emailing, postings to Blogger (How do we customize that do do others?), make collages, fix red-eyes and loads of other effects - What more do you need? Sure, slideshows, creating picture cd's, screensavers and more.

You can also create online html based web galleries, but hey, we use Gallery for that now, don't we kids?

You will also notice that Google has had it's influence on it, the Gmail feature "labels" is now a component of Picasa. Label your pictures! Also, you have a "I feel lucky" button for image enhancements!

Definately worth a look, as it's great application at a great price too! And no, no-one at Google has paid me for this!

Also, according to the O'Mighty Gallery Mentor, Bharat:

We can build a much tighter integration with Picasa 2. I'm working on this, as a background task. Hopefully I'll have something that I can demo in the next month or so. If somebody wants to work on an XML import module for G2 that would be awesome (but we should discuss that in the G2 dev forum).

Gallery-RSS Wordpress Plugin

Alright—with the help of magpie RSS, I cooked up my first Wordpress Plugin—as you can see to the right, it takes the RSS gallery feed and generates N number of thumbnails (you specify) of the recently updated galleries of the particular gallery (you specify) , optionally displays captions (you specify) and allows you to style the unordered list via CSS tags specific to the plugin.

That looks very interesting, and a bit better than the souped up version of "Last Updated Albums:" that I made myself.

I love how he has put 4 images from Gallery into a small box in his Sidebar. This one I have to try! Thanks to Jesse for pointing this out!

Incorporated this, and man, it does look good! Had to tweak a few things though, css and such, but not to much.
I did discover though that I seriously need to try and validate this site now. It doesn't validate to well now. :(

I've updated / split the original Gallery Stats page, into two sections:

The first one is Gallery IRC Stats by PieSpy, which displays "a social Network diagram" (powered by PieSpy) for the #Gallery IRC channel on freenode.net

The other section is the Gallery CVS Checkins Tracker, which is a basic rss feed from cia.navi.cx. CIA is a system for tracking open-source projects in real-time.

If I find other (semi)useful features to add here, I will at a later time. Suggestions welcome :-)

Nothing really works here at the moment. Might be fixed later.

Thats pretty cool, I wonder what the hit rate on that Gallery install is :-)

Kye Lewis has his bright moments. Other moments are perhaps more blurry. Like the time he decided to make a Gallery rap. Have a look at this.
