Microsoft releases XP/IE6 Appliance
Microsoft has released a VPC hard disk image containing a pre-activated Windows XP SP2, IE6 and the IE7 Readiness Toolkit, read all the details on the IEBlog One small caveat, the VPC image will expire on April 1st, 2007. Virtual PC doesn't run in Linux, so you would have to run this in a Windows host. Or would you? I haven't tested yet, but VMWare Converter should be able to convert VPC images to VMware Player / Server images. Unless Microsoft has included some virtualization engine detection software in their appliance, this means that most Linux users should be able to convert and use the image on Linux as well. Wonder if that would violate any EULA's?Post metadata

Hi,
just installed VMware Converter 3.0.1 to import “Internet Explorer Application Compatibility VPC Image” (IE7) hard disk but failed. Crated a virtual XP with MS VPC 2004 to create the needed vmc file but never boot the virtual machine. Tne run the converter and failed at 99% every time !
