Lenovo Delivers System Update 3.0
A couple of days ago I complained that Lenovo had not made a Vista compatible version of System Update available now that the Vista launch date has been reached. Seems they have put things right now though, as ThinkVantage System Update 3.0 has just been released, with Vista support.Post metadata

I have no idea what Error 75 is, but System Update 3.0 works fine on my T60.

Hi! I have had the same problem with unwanted localized drivers and applications. I have never understood why lenovo is so persistant in ignoring the fact that I have installed an ENGLISH system. Anyway, I have a brand new T60, unfortunatly delivered with swedish Vista, and I’ve removed all Lenovo partitions and installed Windows Vista Ultimate (US-English). When running System Update 3.0 I see no signs of the language selector you are talking about though. Where is it?

I think I might have been a tad premature when doing that, it seems like they are back to their old tricks with detecting the regional options and forcing a localization an you.
As far as I can tell, the only way to go around it is to set the system regional settings to US when running System Update and when installing their applications and drivers.
Lenovo should really take this seriously, and not force localized versions on users, like myself, that don’t want them.

I have to include my frustration here for Lenovo’s decission of forcing the driver/software localization based on wrong information. This is an old problem and should have been changed a long, long time a go.

Bought a new LENOVO 3000 N200 notebook factory
shipped with Windows Vista. It worked a couple
of hours, using with brazilian keyboard settings.
After plugging a pen-drive into the system, it
changed its keyboard layout. I´be checked regional
settings for Windows as well as keyboard type, all
looks O.K. . The key ‘/’ is missing now and dosn´t
show up anymore in the applications (Explorer URL,
or notebook, or command prompt). Any hint to solve
this bug is welcome.

I “solved” the problem by setting my regional settings to US-EN but customized them to German. So I have my localiced settings but System Update sees US-EN and installs English updates on my English Vista OS.
Vista Sidebar Weather gadget has the same problem. Solved by this workaround, too.

ThinkVantage System Update Error 75
- the above can occur if the update software sends the wrong model number
- try updating the following keys (or similar) to:
HKLM\HARDWARE\ACPI\DSDT\LENOVO\{Serial Number without Hyphen}
HKLM\HARDWARE\ACPI\FADT\LENOVO\{Serial Number without Hyphen}
HKLM\HARDWARE\ACPI\RSDT\LENOVO\{Serial Number without Hyphen}
- I have seen these keys in the for of TP-xx___ which, when sent to the update server, gives an Error 75

Could you send drivers for lenovo sunrise 410M

@Jandos Sad: I’m sure IBM/Lenovo would be a better place to look for the drivers to your device. I certainly don’t have them.

Hi this helped me nad fixed my problem with error 75.
But i had different path for theese values
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/ACPI/DSDT/IBM___/TP__
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/ACPI/FADT/IBM___/TP__
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/ACPI/RSDT/IBM___/TP__
I renamed the folders called TP__ (it has the same name that system update wants to use as your computer model) with my laptop model number for eg. 2373N3G. then restarted the system update and my laptop model number had been updated since last time.
I have IBM T42 and using dualboot with windows XP pro and linux ubuntu 8.10
Hope this helps someone :)
